Not really. A lot of what they are doing is trying to artificially increase fan participation. Give us a good team doing exciting things on the field and fan participation will take care of itself.

Agreed. JJ's job is to coach the team and produce a good product on the field. It is the athletic department's job to oversee game day production. Even if the team were kicking tail on the field, it would not excuse the athletic department from their job.

Hey at least they've toned down the p.a. announcer. That's a step in the right direction. But yes we do have a very amateurish at best gameday experience within the stadium. From the [deleted] poor product on the field, to the poorly calibrated music, to the horrible between series "entertainment" on the video board, it makes for a truly pitiful experience. Thank God for The Boulevard. What a great atmosphere that is.

So if I yell more the speakers automatically drop 100 decibels, the video board operator immediately knows how to synch sound and video, and the PA guy knows player names, who tackled whom, and yardage for the next play?

With 5:45 left in the 4th quarter during play stoppage, the SMU band was playing, the TCU band was playing, and the Jumbotron/PA was playing a television commerical so loud we could not talk to each other.

If you are going to make the fan experience physically painful through sound torture, there will not be very many people in the stands come November. I use the game day as a social/entertainment event.

Here is a clue; get rid of the PA strategy.

Maybe the athletic department isn't the problem. Maybe it is the fans who come to the game for a party and don't care about football. If you want to have a social/entertainment event, buy a ticket in the club level and stay in the back. IT'S A FOOTBALL GAME!!!

I can, to some extent, see where you're coming from. What was with the TCU twirler hanging out in our section? And why did the 7-8 folks who were real happy to see each other and needed to do some 'catching up' decide to walk down to about the 2nd or 3rd row in the aisle at about 7:15, with no regard whatsoever for the people trying to watch the game.

And if the noise is too loud, don't come! Stay at home and watch some golf or other show for the AARP! Things are changing at SMU. Either get on board or stay the F away!!!

Where have we seen the video presentation of the guy urging us to cheer/yell and the professors before? Oh, yeah...at this year's Rice game! SMU 'stole' this idea from Rice. Please. Give it back.

...and could we have a little bass on the screechin', blonde, sideline/remote "reporter" who talks so fast only a college student could understand her. Slow down or shut th' f up.

Betcha she's a Broadcast Journalism major at SMU and she'll be a sideline reporter for Fox Sports after graduation.

I actually thought it was pretty cool getting facualty to lead a cheer (so to speak) after so many years of their general dis-interest, but the spots were too many and done at inappropriate times. Perhaps one individual for each game with the spot played at the beginning of each half would work better with the emphasis on fan cheering and then "Go Mustangs" rather than asking for more noise.

y'know, I will acknowledge the whole thing can be improved, but I would much rather have what we've seen the first two games this year than some kind of bullsh*t presentation on the field at every stoppage of play like we saw in years past.
