"CBS College Sports said Thursday that it was laying off nearly one-quarter of its staff, or about 30 employees. The cutbacks signify the network’s shift from studio programs to increased high-definition event coverage.
The studio shows will stay on the air until early December, resume temporarily for the N.C.A.A. men’s basketball tournament in March and be suspended afterward.
Steve Herbst, the executive vice president of CBS College Sports, the former CSTV, said the shift was not a reaction to competition from ESPNU.
