We will...if we win out. It's called strength of schedule.

Wow, look at all the highly ranked ACC and Big East team. Good thing the BSC Cartel has an automatic BSC bowl bid for its deserving members.

If ACC and BE teams keep knocking each other off, they are in jeopardy of not going to a BCS Bowl. One of the fine print things in the new BCS agreement is that if a team is ranked higher than the champion of a conference, they get that conference's bid. Theoretically, you could end up with Tulsa, Utah or TCU, Ball State and Boise State all ranked above the champions of those two conferences. That would mean that perhaps, Utah and Boise State would go to a BCS Bowl instead of the ACC and BE champions. (I won't hold my breath). Let's hope that TCU, BYU and Utah start beating each other so that Tulsa can pass them up. Because then we'd all share in the BCS payday.

not saying that i disagree that that is the rule but I think what you mean is, if a Non BCS team is ranked higher than a BCS conference champion, then that nonBCS team can earn a BCS bid.
i might be wrong but i know under the rules its if you are in the top 12 and are a nonBCS team, you get an automatic bid, but if you are in the top 16 and a BCS conference champion is ranked lower than 16, they have a chance at a bid.
BCS conference champs are Guaranteed a bid no matter how bad they are

Why can't our football program be more like TCU's?

If the AC and BE don't make a BSC bowl, then count on the computer to have some 'adjustments' made so that the same mistake doesn't happen next year. That is the beauty of the cartel, it only has to deal with a mistake once and it can correct that mistake.

Conference Automatic Qualification in Future
The conferences have developed athematical standards of performance which be applied to determine the number of conferences whose champions will automatically qualify for a BCS game after the 2008 and 2009 regular seasons. The champions of no fewer than five conferences and no more than seven conferences will have annual automatic berths.
The standards will be based on results from the 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007 regular seasons, using institutions that are members of the conferences during the 2007 season.
The data will include the following for each conference (1) the ranking of the highest-ranked team in the final BCS standings each year, (2) the final regular-season rankings of all conference teams in the computer rankings used by the BCS each year and (3) the number of teams in the top 25 of the final BCS standings each year.
The standards will not prohibit the champion of any conference that has contracted with a bowl from playing in one of the participating BCS bowls. For example, the Big Ten and Pac-10 champions will, by contract, play in the Rose Bowl every year unless one or both qualifies for the National Championship Game.
Unless I'm missing a conference, the current BCS is made up of six conferences which means there will be an opening for another after this season and the 2009 season. Am I correct? If that is correct I know for a fact that Mountain West is doing everything it can to get BCS status. What is C-USA doing...anything?
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.
