Much better shade of blue in that photo than what we are using right now.
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

I'm in!!! YES!!!
Long Overdue!!!
Perhaps we should start a campaign to raise the necessary $$$ to purchase retro unis & helmets for the team; & they can wear the unis a couple of times annually at home & away?
BRING BACK THE GLORY DAYS OF SMU FOOTBALL!!!
For some strange reason, one of the few universities that REFUSE to use their school colors: Harvard Crimson & Yale Blue.

If a Div 1 football player gets up for a game because of change in helmet color then he doesn't belong on the roster.

you are crazy if you don't think 90% of Div. 1/2/3/Pro/High school/ etc. care about how they look when they play. so all of the ponyfans can get fired up about new jersyes/helmets but players can't? they did it as sort of a "throwback" look, I personally have no problem with players being motivated by what they are wearing, especially if it has to do with the history and tradition of the program...

here is a great link to the history of CUSA helmets

How about retro to the point of single bar helmets, or better yet no facemask? That really shouldn't affect our defense, since all we do is flail and grab at the runners with our arms.

Face mask penalties got us 30 yards on our first drive against Houston. Face masks are one of our most potent weapons. Do not take them away.

Our flailing is underrated.
