When I read that SMU is "going to take over the whole freakin' prom", for some reason I thought of Matt Foley, motivational speaker.

It was getting pretty close to completely empty, so I'd be thrilled with half empty.

Can't really make this point as well as I will be able to when Rivals releases the 3 star recruits in the Class of 2010 but so far the number of 4 Star and above recruits offered by SMU are as follows:

2010: 9
2009: 3
2008: 1 (Bennett/Jones)

The trend of SMU competing for the Top talent will continue to be evident once the 3 stars are released. Again-we may not get many-but we've already gotten one and others are listening closely. As I said even before of our first commitment SMU is more organized, has a better plan and has shown more determination in recruiting top talent than at any time in the last 20 years. Its going to pay off in the long run.

I couldn't agree more. We are no longer waiting for the big boys to have their way with the recruits and then jump in late. I think they are carefully selecting who they want to offer and then hope things turn out well with a few of them. Of course, we have to start winning some games for this pay off. And I think we will.
When will I start feeling stimulated??

I never gave much thought to trying to be the first to offer, but it really seems to make sense. By offering first we at least stay amongst the favorites and get serious consideration. But to be in a position to offer early you have to work hard at it and be out in the "field", something this staff seems great at compared to the last twenty years.

Thinking back, just how out of touch and unrealistic the faculty rules were about prequalifying, etc. Just how were we even on time for signing day? I don't know if I even had my SAT results by early February my senior year in high school.
