These stayed under my radar as well, besides the NCAA and NIT, there is also a CIT and a CBI, whatever those are.

Houston and UTEP are in the CBI, no CUSA teams in the CIT and UAB and Tulsa are in the NIT.

THink a lot of respectable teams refused invites to the CBI and CIT, notable exceptions being St. Johns, Stanford, and Oregon State.

To me, these should be for the smaller schools that never got a chance, and for the most part they are, not sure why St. Johns would risk taking an @ss whooping at the hands of a smaller school.

Tulsa won the CBI last year. The cool thing about that is when you get to the finals, the teams play a best-of-three format. Tulsa beat Bradley in three games last year. Yes, I'm that much of a college basketball junkie.

Good grief. 146 teams in post season tournies means it eventually comes down to this, 2 teams barely over .500 playing in Idaho.

Don't know how many, but UALR turned down a bid to the CBI.

According to the article below, CBI charged Stanford $60K for the first round game. If schools can bring in enough revenue to come close covering their costs, the tournaments probably will continue. But if too many schools balk like UALR, the organizers will have to cut their fees to keep them going. http://www.mercurynews.com/sports/ci_11929492

That's not the worst of it. CBI invited a 16-17 St. Johns and a 13-17 OSU.

Ideally, the teams that are invited to these tournaments are the teams that win more than 10 games in a season.

the CBI wants 60k guarantee for a home game and the CI.com wants 28k

for our sake, let's hope they both survive so we can get in on post season play in the not too distant future
