TO ME IT LOOKS LIKE SCOUT.COM didn't think too highly of his recruits, but he still recorded a 75-41 record, six bowl wins and a Coach of the Year Award.

To me it looks like he's getting better overall recruits in his first year at SMU then he got during some seasons at Hawaii. He inherited more of a mess than he expected, but he's getting ready to make this team his, whether the recruit has 2 stars or 4

In regards to "Great Pick Up": Maybe a great kid for the university but not for the team's success in C-USA.

"Go Ponies": Easy there. Root for the team, even if they ain't any good.

"UT can kiss my deleted": So what, someone hates UT. That's ok.

"JJ Knows what he is doing": He does. But he has to take what he can get here. Perfectly fine statement with me though.

"New Feeling to the Team": Yeah sure, new people may bring a new feeling, certainly. More wins? Different story.

What's so wrong with self expression? It is a fansite so take it easy. I am also all for getting good, accurate information and that's why I read your posts, Stallion. If you don't like the cheerleaders, then don't read their posts. Stop complaining about it because it's just going to make people hate you. Doesn't do anyone any good.

Or are we just getting antsy?

I appreciate the quip but it's about time to start since we have been told all of the changes to the program internally and externally are now in place for it to compete.

It better start in 2009.

Here's the bottom line: The future of SMU remaining in Division I athletics will contingent upon the Jones era and how successful it is.

You know the funny thing about Doherty's recruiting-the two recruits (Chris Clarke and Julius Francis) that SMU fans have complained about the most over the last few years and wondering whether they were really Division 1A quality both had their scholarship offers revoked. Ponyfans is 2-0 in correctly questioning Doherty's recruiting of marginal recruits.

i can't remember but with what coach phil left on the shelves and the mentality coach phil had left with our players i knew it would be a very long season instituting a whole new offense. i say we win a minimum of 4 games this year......but lets get it all down so we can revisit....no waffle.....no "well if and but"......lets put it down fellows.

But Francis got offered by and signed with Winthrop, a strong bball program. I would say Myles Luttman has/had more people doubting his legitamacy as a D 1 recruit. And aside from his size, I think it is justified. ALthough I do hope he turns out to be a quality player.

What is Clarke up to these days? He is a kid that was rated really highly as a Soph, then less so as a Junior, then almost not at all as a Senior. Did he end up playing ball anywhere?
