Alright I will articulate. The big horseys are here because June Jones thinks that our players feel emasculated with Peruna as our mascot. And my point is that 77-year tradition is important, and if our players feel emasculated running out behind a Shetland Pony, then June Jones needs to get some new players, not a new mascot. One of the horse's trainers said something to effect of "he is going to be the new mascot" in an interview that someone posted, but I think that is the only reference I have seen and I do not think he meets your standard of representing SMU.

In an interview, Maddie also said the horses may be the new mascots of SMU.

And in the game day interview she gave, she said JJ approached her about getting a mustang for SMU.

Right — I think I saw both of those. But in each case, it sounded (read) like "the new" mascot could have meant "another" mascot. I don't recall anyone, anywhere, saying Peruna was going to go.

I don't want to see Peruna go, either, but methinks this uproar has been fueled largely by those of us reacting to what we think the decisions were, rather than those who made any decisions.

They can't have Peruna on the same field as the geldings. They were so afraid of what he would do that they led him up the tunnel during halftime so that he would not be able to see the geldings. If the geldings were to have become the "new" mascots, Peruna would not have been allowed on the field.

I am actually encouraged by our fans -- this is the most passion and pride we have seen from our fanbase over something in a long time. It proves that even after 23 years there are those of us who still feel a connection to the school and care about what's going on.

All it proves is that our chicken sh*t retirement home fans care about is "game presentation" and farm animals on the sidelines. It is laughable in my section of season ticket holders that no one gives a flying f*ck about what is going on on the field and would rather chat it up over a nice latte on how Junior is doing in the 5th grade. No one makes any noise, no atmosphere whatsoever. The worst part of going to games for me is without question, our fans. Easily among the most tepid, non-emotional drones I've ever encountered at a sporting event. Seems more like a wake for most of them.

Frankly, if you are so upset about people whining over farm animals, why aren't you more upset with June Jones? For almost two years now he has attempted to force a large horse on the school. If the mascot issue wasn't important, why is a man who will, in all likelihood, be gone in 3 years regardless of the state of the program, wasting his time with it?

Just wondering. I am in 104 and I never noticed anyone talking about their kids over lattes, might be that I am too busy cheering and paying attention to what is happening on the field to notice what people are talking about around me. Perhaps you should focus on the field instead of your neighbors, sounds like you might have more fun.

BTW, our emasculation showed in the second half of the Navy game, coincidentally right after we got our gelded horseys. So it appears they are already having an effect.
