Re: For those interested Jeffcoat committed to Texas todayAlmost half of my family went to Texas so I have a soft spot in my heart for them. We are absolutely no threat to them in any way at this point. Hating them seems a bit trivial.
Back off Warchild seriously.
Re: For those interested Jeffcoat committed to Texas todayOur best chance to compete against UT is in BB and we all know how that is turning out.
Re: For those interested Jeffcoat committed to Texas today
our best chance to be a legit national power in a revenue is hoops, but as you said, tough to see that right now. “When I first committed to SMU, I thought it would take a couple of years of building. But with these players coming in, we should make a run. We have a lot of heavy hitters. It could get real ugly for a lot of teams we play.â€- Jalen Jones
Re: For those interested Jeffcoat committed to Texas today
My parents met at UT so if it weren't for that school, I wouldn't be here. Therefore, I root for UT. That being said - SMU comes first and foremost and if we ever play them in a real sport again, I hope we score 10 times what they do.

Ok, I'll buy extenuating circumstances like yours. Your family gets a pass from any stadium implosion “When I first committed to SMU, I thought it would take a couple of years of building. I bet our Equestrian team could sure give UT a run for their money "I love coaching here at SMU University" -June Jones
Re: For those interested Jeffcoat committed to Texas today...or we can send those two cowboys on our geldings down there to corral ole Bevo.
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.
Re: For those interested Jeffcoat committed to Texas todayI am just glad Jeffcoat decided to go to Texas and not follow his dad to Houston.
Re: For those interested Jeffcoat committed to Texas today
Just because an SMU alum hates UT doesn't necessarily mean that he thinks they are our rival. One has nothing to do with the other. It's just bizarre to some of us that other SMU alums who seems passionate about our school's athletic teams would come on to this board in order to play rah-rah for UT. There are plenty of other boards on the internet to do that. So that's what should seem trivial to you. I grew up a huge UNC basketball fan, but I went to SMU, and I wouldn't ever go on to the basketball forum on Ponyfans to pump up the Tarheels. Just another perspective, my friend.
Re: For those interested Jeffcoat committed to Texas today
No need for geldings....we have Peruna "Or think of the time that Peruna kicked the University of Texas longhorn in the stomach sending mighty Bevo to the ground." - SMU daily campus
Re: For those interested Jeffcoat committed to Texas todayYou're right, but I thought that was a closely guarded secret. ![]() SMU's first president, Robert S. Careful, or you'll be accused of staying on the original topic. "Mass genocide is the most exhausting activity one can engage in .... next to soccer."

Re: For those interested Jeffcoat committed to Texas today
Many of us complained about the University's reaction to tje "death penalty," supported a lawsuit against the NCAA that would have possibly allowed us to do discovery into the rampant cheating taking place at UT and elsewhere, and opposed A. Kenneth Pye's insistence that SMU football operate on what was essentially a club sport level. We were told to shut up and not make waves.
Re: For those interested Jeffcoat committed to Texas todayTopper- how well I remember. I will never forget the pain and frustration caused by the refusal to move forward with that lawsuit. I was willing to donate far beyond my means to fight that battle.I was never so ashamed of being from SMU as I was during that period. IMHO had we gone with the lawsuit we would have never received the DP- but of course that is all conjecture.
GO PONIES!!!
Re: For those interested Jeffcoat committed to Texas today
Just curious, why would you ever feel ashamed of being from SMU????
