With the possibilty of WR Wilkerson, having to sit out the 2010 season, doesn't it make sense to go ahead and re offer talented WR De' Von Bailey who has shown his potential this spring as a walk on. Go ahead and get him over here as soon as possible where he can continue to learn the offense before fall practice.

Re: With the possibilty of WR Wilkerson,I certainly don't know the ins-and-ousts of scholarship awards, but if this is at all possible, I hope they make it happen. I really think De'Von can be a difference maker on this team.

Re: With the possibilty of WR Wilkerson,He would count against the 25 rule.
Re: With the possibilty of WR Wilkerson,25 rule or not, the guy can play this year. I would certainly offer Bailey if the recent JUCO DT offer doesn't qualify.
Re: With the possibilty of WR Wilkerson,
If he can make it back by paying on his own, why use a scholarship on him that could be used on someone else?
Re: With the possibilty of WR Wilkerson,
There are reports that he might not be able to get the financing he needs for the Fall. With the loss of Wilkerson, WR suddenly becomes a priority and Bailey is considerably better than any other scholarship option we have unless someone at USC is bored of living in Watts. -CoS
Re: With the possibilty of WR Wilkerson, with this news, what is the depth chart on WR's??
Re: With the possibilty of WR Wilkerson,I'd like to think we have depth at WR; this spells opportunity for someone. I'm ready to see if Haynes is up to the task; really need DJ to come on strong this year
Re: With the possibilty of WR Wilkerson,
You said he MIGHT not be able to get the financing, I said IF he can get back by paying on it own. We are both saying basically the same thing - there is a chance he can fund his way without a football scholarship. I ask again, why would you give him the football scholarship before you knew whether he would make it on his own?
Re: With the possibilty of WR Wilkerson,
LOL, Bailey is the best option at WR? Really? The same kid who was cut in the beginning of last year is the best option at WR? Really? Why weren't the "less talented" WRs of the team cut then? OK then if thats the case lets cut Darius Johnson, Aldric Robinson, Brad Haynes, Lofton, better throw in Beasley in all this.
Re: With the possibilty of WR Wilkerson,Jason Bailey was an allstate wr in high school, the old coach in his wisdom moved him to safety where he bulked up and lost his speed. He is down to a good playing weight now and also now back to his natural position. Friends who saw him play as a wr have said him is very good at that position.
He was cut for being late to meetings and class not for ability. Sent from my KOREAN knockoff using Tapdance 5
Re: With the possibilty of WR Wilkerson,
If Jones felt that Devon Bailey had any potentail at to be the "best WR on this team" he would not have cut him. It would be scary if Bailey did have that potentail and Jones still cut him wouldn't it? Cutting a player lose meant the coaches felt in their hearts that this player has no potentail to help their team now or in the near future. If Bailey losed wieght and thinks he is now committed to attend meetings on time thats fine, but you cant go from a player with no pontentail to "the best WR on the team". Dez Byrant had problems attending meetings up in Oklahoma State. You punish them internally you dont cut "the best WR on the team" and send him off to Texas A&M-Commerce. I hope Bailey does find victory in whatever he does. I dont wish any ill will to the young man, but for you guys to say there is no player on this team on the roster right now capable of replacing the production of Wilkerson is laughable and idiotic.
Re: With the possibilty of WR Wilkerson,
We're talking about adding additional depth at wide receiver in addition to the WR's already on the team. In my opinion Bailey is a better option than anyone else we can add for the upcoming season. Please consider reading the threads before posting. And Wuba, I totally agree, we're on the same page. -CoS
Re: With the possibilty of WR Wilkerson,
OK, thats not what I read in your previous post. It sounded like to me that you thought Bailey was more talented then any WR we currently have, but if what you said above is your true feelings then thats fine. I dont agree with it, but your opinion is a logical one.
Re: With the possibilty of WR Wilkerson,
While I'm all for agreeing to disagree, I am very curious as to who you think we can bring in at WR that would be better than Bailey. Care to share? -CoS
