Ah. Well...just lame. I need to talk to them. The adviser usually brings in alums to talk to the staff anyway. I can turn mine into a 2-hour session on proofreading, fact-checking and copy editing.

Even if this is an extracurricular activity, it would be like showing up at a raging kegger with a six pack on wine coolers if your extra curricular activity is binge drinking. Unacceptable and show some flipping effort.

Learning and not being familiar with sports is one thing, but basic proofreading of grammar, running spell-check, and basic fact checking should be MINIMUM skills to get into SMU. Unless this is from a secret new female 3-star wide receiver June has picked up, it shouldn't be acceptable in a freshman admission essay, much less a published work, student paper or not.

Not to appear too ancient, but in my SMU day the Daily Campus was an excellent student paper. To become an editor was quite an achievement. The current effort is just sad.
