Every time the news reports that the Packers will move practice from S.M.U. to

H.P. high it's kind of embarrassing.

The intramural field is not an option for grass practices. It is used year round by the entire campus. Mostly just rocks and dirt. That’s not the kind of field we want our guys on. How about Wescott?

With the potential for short weeks (TV scheduled games) the need for max number of practice reps is paramount. As mrydel put it, practice in the rain decreases reps and the quality of those reps. An IPF allows for max practice and improves the quality of those reps as opposed to reps in rain.

As with anything else, practice, practice, practice improves execution. An IPF improves the potential to maximize practice time regardless of weather.

In the bad old days, when weather was an issue, SMU practiced in Moody. The reps just were not the same. One, contact is limited and two, the space decreases the type of pas routes that can be run. Defense and offense share the same limited space. The practice is of poor quality and not a good representation of the playing conditions one will see come game day .

Not kind of embarrassing...VERY embarrassing!

As a Cox student you should be aware of the basic benefits of the Traditional Management Style...

Agree - if SMU is serious about being top 25 then an indoor practice facility is needed for recruiting and to ensure you can maximize the practice opportunities. I really don't understand why one does not get built. It seems SMU talks about something for a long time before action when other schools take action quicker. It is real frusterating.

IPF is nice, but lets be a little thoughtful about this. We needed to get an Education Department so that recruits could major in PE. That took a lot of cash. We need a new natatorium for swimming. There are plenty of needs.

We are being thoughtful. As soon as swimming draws more then parents and groupies they will get their facility - until then, IPF has jumped the line.

My vote would be to make the soccer field the indoor facility. The soccer guys and gals get to play indoors rather than sweat and freeze outdoors and June gets his indoor practice facility.......

While an IPF's primary function is for football, it can be used for other sports as well

Yeah - we'll just roll the grass out like they do in Arizona.

Or build it with a retractable roof.

No. The retail center is slated for future student apartments on top of retail (an urbanism concept)

Well, let's just put apartmetns on top of the IPF. Now that would be cool! :D

I don't know where the water table is, but it would be awesome to have the IPF under Ford Stadium.
