Best Hope for the Big XII

Postby SoCal_Pony » Tue Sep 06, 2011 12:26 pm

is to vote Texas out.

It is the only way I see this conference surviving in the long term. Otherwise, all the remaining schools are simply waiting for the other UT shoe to drop (independence / greater LHN reach?) who knows but whatever decisions they make it will be with zero regards for any fellow B12 members and they are now wise to this.

BTW, the PAC12 people I speak to are not crazy about UT and their LHN, and who can blame them.

If A&M and OU could strike a deal, they could become the masters of this region instead of simply another fish in a bigger SEC or PAC12 ocean. Both schools stand to lose a lot of influence when they leave the Big12.

Have a South Division made up of A&M, Tech, Baylor, TCU, Houston and SMU
Have a North Division made up of OU, Ok State, KU, K-State, Mizzo and Iowa St

OU and A&M have just dramatically increased their chances of NC/BCS Bowl game participation. They would be playing the same game Texas has but without them.

I know this is a long shot, but for at least half the remaining B12 schools, I suspect it is their best option.

Take out UT now.

This would be dumb. All the others schools revenue would drop considerably. Their TV contract would likely be voided if they did this.

Agreed, they are looking in the rearview mirror and I can't blame them. That is why I personally feel the Big12 as a BCS conference will implode.

You wonder if they had taken a vote last year on the LHN / Texas, knowing what they do now, how the vote would have gone. Kansas, K-State, Mizzo and especially Iowa State and Baylor cannot be feeling too good today and they comprise half the conference.

Are Colorado and Nebraska in a better place now vs a Texas LHN-less Big 12?, probably so, but the jury is still out on that one.

Crazy to think the power centers in this new alignment will be in LA, Columbus, the Deep South and the East Coast, but NOT in Texas.

I cannot believe that such a program would be rejected by the people of this country, even if it does mean the establishment of personal contact with the dictators.” - Neville Chamberlain / Dan Beebe
