I think we have the makings of a pretty-fair rivalry. LOL!
BRING BACK THE GLORY DAYS OF SMU FOOTBALL!!!

For some strange reason, one of the few universities that REFUSE to use their school colors: Harvard Crimson & Yale Blue.

I've always felt that SMU/TCU/UNT could have a great little Metroplex rivalry and should all be playing each other every year...preferably as conference mates. We could play for the Metroplex Mayors Trophy

I definitely think that hiring dodge put nt back a lot. congrats on your stadium but I don't have any reason to care about your team--I'm a MUSTANG gal.

I don't understand why some may dislike NT or feel the need to put NT down either. I assume it something personal with them. As far as I am concern NT is irrelevant to SMU. There is nothing about NT that SMU should be concerned with. We have never really been competitors so I really wish you any ill will.

we have UNT on future schedules and our games with them have always been pretty well attended. We should be playing them and TCU every year. We compete at the same level and are less than an hour drive. No brainer as far as I am concerned

This is how I feel as well. So naturally I don't like when their fans try to claim that they are something we should be concerned about.

the first, most relevant, difference between smu and ntsu that stands out to me is that we actually win our opening game in the new stadium.

I don't notice any hatred?.....we just don't really care about NTSU. Apathy is the correct word. Where did this thread come from anyway?.....drug induced?
I do think it deserves an annual game though. It would fill up the stadiums when played and is better than us playing games like Northwestern State ( I know it was a last minute replacement for Baylor).

I think there has been a little UNT slamming and name calling, but that's what message boards are for. Apathy probably is correct, but NT posters tend to draw the ire of Pony fans when they come onto this board and make very overreaching statements. At some point, state funding will likely result in NT closing down, but for now we have to endure their noise.

Personally, I wish we weren't playing them. It's a classic no-win for SMU (lose, we're fools for losing to a lesser team, win and it's so what).

well, it's not like we had a lot of options after Baylor dropped the game at the last minute. i'm glad they filled it in with what should be a sure W.

One of us is confused (likely me). I didn't think we're talking about Northwestern State (which was the replacement for Baylor). This is about UNT hate, which is appropriate by all standards! :D

i think i just saw NSU in the post you replied to and thought that's what you were referring to. my bad.

but you are correct about not having anything to gain by playing UNT. although it would be a good old-fashioned beatdown.

Hey Jarhead, Thank You for your service to this country.

If you look at some of our opponents over the past several years in FB and especially BB, I too do not understand why we don't schedule NTSU more often.

We are playing Northwestern St this week and the consensus appears to be we will have 15,000 fans. I have got to believe that if we were playing NTSU, we could draw closer to 23,000.

btw, I think I attended the last SMU / NTSU game at Moody. Was that back in 2003? Think of all the meaningless NC games we have scheduled since then.

He probably isnt really military. He claims to be an officer but most officers I have known have better manners.

You are probably right about playing them more often. In the past these games have sold a lot of tickets, something we badly need to do.
