If you notice attendance is slightly down for 2011, but it does not include a TCU home game (2010) or operation sellout (2009 vs SFA). To people expecting a sell out just look back five years for a dose of reality. We are making progress but it is not going to be over night, that would require a few undefeated miracle season and we still lack the proper depth for that. Next year we will get a bump from having A&M and TCU at home. 2013 we will get Tech and Baylor. People will come out for those match-ups the important thing is to turn them into repeat customers. Moving to the BE will help.
These boards seem to constantly go in a circular argument about attendance, but there are a few things we can do to help attendance. In my opinion making the BLVD more accessible and attractive to non alumni should be priority #1. Regardless of our record it is the most attractive/unique feature of SMU FB. Need a reason for new Texans to make the drive from Plano.
SMU is still moving in the right direction, best recruiting class in years. June is trying to leverage more out of the program by entertaining openings, will happen every year. IPF still doesn't have a set date.
Recruiting complaints are BS though. Stanford and USC seem to do ok. If anything the
coaches outside of Klemm (and maybe Mason) are just terrible recruiters. If we had better recruiting we wouldn't be coming down to the the wire every year admission for some players. Go after better players and stop using admissions as your excuse. RGT and the admin have made huge changes (lowering standards and adding athletic friendly major), SMU recruiting (outside of the two mentioned) is just awful and needs to step it up. We will never be as easy as Hawaii academically, SMU is moving up academically and could be top30 in ten years. Second Century Campaign has $750 million reasons why academics are only moving up. Don't want my degrees severely diluted just for the sake of getting to 10 wins.
