Anyone else glad June Jones is still the coach?

Not really, he doesn't want to be here. He is not committed to SMU and the program. I am hoping he goes to Kansas or Hawaii - there's no place like home.
He went through the motions all year. We have to put up with another year of his "I have to be here nonsense"?

He obviously does not like SMU. That was apparent from his sons facebook status. You can just tell he is unhappy here.He shops around every December. Its not a career advancement at this point, he just wants out. Hopefully Hawaii hires him.

top 30-40 recruiting class, improved results on field, all is forgiven by me... I can forgive, but will be tough to forget.

Re: Anyone else glad June Jones is still the coach?
I would of been happy had he not f-ed up the recruiting week and caused so much stability. He should of just said keep this quiet ASU or dont even bother. Had he had some respect for SMU, he wouldnt try to strip everything from it. Had he left, yes we would of been set back for 5 years but now we are stuck with someone who doesnt want to be here. So I have no idea which is worst. S.O. time to go on a super secret mission to recruit a coach.

Definitely conflicted on this one. On the one hand, I'm happy the man who's brought us so far in such a short time is still here but on the other hand I'd be foolish not to worry about what this does to us.
Remember several years ago when Billy Donovan at UF left briefly for the Magic, had a change of heart and came back days later to continue coaching basketball at UF? Before he did that he had back to back national titles. He hasn't done anything since. And in his case it was his decision to come back, which he could at least sell to the team as "hey I had a look and decided I want to be here more."
June Jones doesn't even have this to fall back on. He was gone. He had no desire to come back here, and the only reason he's here is because ASU decided they didn't want him. So we're his safety net? You'd have to be pretty cold blooded to try to sell a kid on your commitment to the school in the wake of this scenario. The recruit would have to be pretty naive to buy it.
I like June Jones. Had a chance to meet him back when he was at Hawaii and he sure seemed like a good guy. I love what he's done for the program up to this point (or I should say up to a month ago). He's going to have to work extremely hard to win back some of the die hard fans that believed he was our man. He's going to have to work even harder to win back support from the team, and he's also going to have to bust his butt to keep this recruiting class in tact. If he's our guy, I wish him the best of luck, because he's going to need it.

Here's to those that wish us well and all the rest can go to hell!!!

S.O. needs to break up this mobility team, he needs to find a way to make the program more stationary so June cant just pick up the entire team and move it to another school.. That was the scariest part. I dont know how it would be possible, but making seperate contracts and paying AK for instance a reasonable salary would be smart.

No. He stopped working for SMU when he pulled himself and his coaches away from recruiting. He was done. I don't hate him but I want someone else. I only expected him to stay for the 5 years contract so he almost made that.

I'm not. Better off cutting ties now. Plenty of good coaches would be interested.

Glad may not be the right word. But I look forward to JJ round two.
Re: Anyone else glad June Jones is still the coach?
I greatly appreciate what he has accomplished, but he needs to go. Now.
I could not care less about this years' recruiting class. I'm worried about next years'. Who's going to come here with the full knowledge that he won't be the coach by the time they graduate?
It's a risk anywhere. At SMU now, it's a certainty.

I'm one of the few that did not drag JJ through the mud, yesterday. YES, I'm proud he is still our football coach.
