We do need a new school to blackball now that we're in a BCS conference.

This sounds like hubris on our part, i.e. to be critical of any school and their possible inclusion in a tranformed BE.

We successfully upgraded our FB program and became competitive over the last three years with a bowl game each year. However, work remains including increasing attendance and successfully transitioning into a BCS conference.

In the meantime, the less we say about other candidate schools the better. Otherwise, we look arrogant (which is how others may view us). On the topic of worthy universities, we might want to be more humble and grateful for our acceptance and national recognition. 8)

first of all, i think most of this is tongue in cheek.

as for other people thinking we're arrogant, they've thought that for a LONG time.

Agree with you Water Pony.
BRING BACK THE GLORY DAYS OF SMU FOOTBALL!!!

For some strange reason, one of the few universities that REFUSE to use their school colors: Harvard Crimson & Yale Blue.

Why don't we put the rest of the conference in the basement below us by being good?

I'm just trying to roll with the negative vibes on the board. Remember we can't recruit, coach or really do much of anything. If that's the case I want Rice.
