OT: AdmissionHey guys,
I am a new to this site. I REALLY REALLY want to attend SMU and applied and am waiting to hear. How much does knowing a board member influence an admission decision? I do not have the exact criteria of the "perfect" candidate mainly a test to my learning difference. How much can this help me?
OT: AdmissionDepends. There are lots of board members and trustees. It depends on what board they are on.
"This is . . . dedication to distraction by fans. Is that what I'm going to go with Jay?"

OT: AdmissionAnd how well you know them.

Re: OT: AdmissionThey are on the board of trustees, and are close family friends.
Re: OT: Admissionyou're in.
Ok this is getting ridiculous...I agree with Dutch on THIS ONE POST by him totally
Re: OT: AdmissionJust to be sure give the person you know a roll of $100s and tell him to keep one and pass it around.
Just kidding. Good luck. I'd kill for a Nobel Peace Prize.
Re: OT: Admissionlearning differences don't stand in the way. I can personally attest to that. the ALEC is a fantastic program that helps students with disabilities (or whatever you want to call it to feel good about it). I'd suggest you address this concern with an admissions adviser. ask them specifically about the ALEC and other programs. demonstrate that you don't let differences hinder you.
also, have the board member write a recommendation letter. and make sure that when you speak (not write, go talk to them) an admissions person, drop names. Ok this is getting ridiculous...I agree with Dutch on THIS ONE POST by him totally
Re: OT: AdmissionI spoke with my admission Counseler..and named every person I knew and had the board member write a letter. He just emailed me and said admission decision is in mail..I'm so nervous!
Re: OT: AdmissionJust make sure you go to the football/basketball games and bring everyone with you.
Re: OT: Admission
