I'm not belly aching too much over it, but I will have to challenge you. It doesn't happen everywhere. In fact, name one other school this year where a sub-coordinator coach left and 5 - 6 of the school's top recruits de-committed and/or went with him (or elsewhere). A couple kids, sure. Lopping the head off the class is a little unusual. I'm sure SMU will be fine, but I'm just not ready to accept this as a common occurrence.

i was referring to new coaches dismissing players to clear up scholly's
Ok this is getting ridiculous...I agree with Dutch on THIS ONE POST by him totally

Most of current recruits maybe from Texas, but I think Mitch's point is that we spend a lot of time on CA recruits (a lot of our offers to top recruits are from CA), which leaves us vulnerable in these instances. In other words, a lot of time spent on CA recruits with not a lot to show for it since as you point out most of our recruits are from TX anyways. I don't see anything wrong with that observation.

And most all of recruiters are focused on Texas. If high caliberTexas players don't to commit to SMU fine SMU will go where we need to go. Also what do you mean WE spend a lot of time in CA? Only one coach spent time in CA. All others are focused on Texas. Terrible observation.

Oh calm down, he is just exploring his options. Just to get you up to speed, Coach Jones tells all his recruits to explore all their options even after they have committed.

I've just never seen such a non-committed "commitment" ever. I guess I have to give him credit for being honest about SMU being his worst case scenario school.

Happens all the time. The Pitt game helped us with him. We'll see if we can out recruit Leach.

"Time" may have been the wrong word to have used but if most of the recruiters are from Texas, then why is there such a discrepancy in the offers that we make to CA recruits? There does seem to be a high offer rate to CA kids considering we only have (had) one recruiter there. It certainly isn't proportional to the amount of coaches that you indicate. I'm pretty sure it's also not because CA recruits are on average better than Texas recruits. We all care about SMU as well as our athletics program so let's be mindful of our responses. I like internal debates and the exchange of ideas and hope to keep discussions as such.

I made this observation before about Klemm. I thought he went into Southern California and went after several high-risk kids. Kids that were going to be very shaky academically even getting in but he likely sold them on the idea of finding a better life and getting out of Dodge.

Nothing wrong with that. But the problem is that he should have done that in Houston about "getting out of Dodge" and telling kids their parents can come see them play. The SoCal kids' paretns don't have that option.

What we're paying for in 2012 is the fact that there wasn't enough groundwork established with the Texas kids. I've heard that SMU still has issues to overcome (Tyler because of that one kid) but you can't concede those areas either.

Based on what I've seen here and there about 2013 kids in Texas, the staff appears to be doing a better job. Now keep the momentum going with those junior days.

They can release all they want. They can still only sign 25 in a given year.

That is Reinebold's area and Reinebold has the contacts not Klemm in Houston. AK was just using his contacts in CA. The other coaches should have brought more players to the table that SMU could offer. Klemm would not have been as effective in Houston because he did not have the contacts. Talk to the surfer dude about why he did not do that in Houston not AK. Mitch you are beating the mess into the ground. You got a Texas recruit in Chamagua and you complained about that. We will get mostly all Texas recruits from this point on probably so you and Maroon will get your wish. I don't know what level of talent they will be but they will mostly be from Texas that's for sure.

With USC's low scholarship situation Klemm, Mazzone, and Broussard could do pretty good in the next class. Oregon is the team to beat now.

USC's class is very impressive and is pretty much entirely 4 and 5 stars, so they're doing OK. The only issue is the lack of scholarship spots, obviously

UCLA is definitely in a rebuilding mode for sure. Neuhiesel just did not get it done and could not find a QB.
