One positive looking at the stats is we have some listed DB recruits that are tall. We haven't had tall DBs for a while. Not saying they play in the secondary, but good we are recruiting some taller DBs. And the linemen look like solid recruits.

Good spin, if you're a SMU fan but don't follow recruiting this would probably excite you.

Did Cramer even start during his HS senior year? Someone was suggesting he did not.

I'm sorry but lot of you guys are soft and too easy to please. We've got the highest paid coach in the conference and he and his staff are being flat out out-recruited, especially in our own back yard. We must demand more effort and results in the future when it comes to recruiting.

Yes we are miles ahead of where we were before June arrived, but remember the goal is top 25 in everything we do. This recruiting effort is not top 25, or top 50 for that matter, so yes everyone has a right to be a little ticked and to demand more from our coaches moving forward. We've got to win in what will be a much better conference than the one we are in now, and yes recruiting is small part of it the grand scheme of coaching and putting together a winning football team, but it is important.

We've also got to recruit big players in the metro-plex if we want this to really become Dallas' team. We need the Miami effect to happen here...minus the cheating..

Or rather the pre DP effect minus the cheating.

that too, I just meant getting kids in Dallas high schools interested in playing together, playing at home, for their city, and making it a hip place to play with a winning culture and attitude around the program

You guys just don't know how difficult it is to recruit when you have to explain why our students don't come to the game, the city of Dallas could care less and other coaches tell our recruits that SMU is just for rich kids. If you don't drive a BMW you just won't fit in. You can be the best recruiter in the land but I have been there and know why we don't get the big guys. That is why we have to spend so much time recruiting out of state. We always hope we can turn this around but until the students and the city get behind us things won't change. If you want to be helpful, join the Mustang Club and come to games. Don't forget that recruits read this board and you are not making them feel very welcome. SO WELCOME GUYS AND LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING YOU ON THE FIELD. GO PONIES!

Which just goes to show you how much the recruiting services know –– not much. Of the Cali kids we lost, I think only one has a good shot playing for anybody anytime soon. In the final analysis, I think everyone will be more pleased with June picking up Law, Pruitt and keeping a couple of "ships" in reserve.

Laugh if you want. But it will be interesting to see what kind of contribution our former recruiting targets end up making.

If our former decommitted recruits aren't any good why did Genius offer them? Why did he offer about 33 Offensive Lineman before he settled for the Bottom of the List for Lineman (other tham Myers). That's complete nonsense

PP (PerunaPunch) is anti recruiting services so you expect those kind of off base responses from him as he is a sponsor of pf (he does it so much until it is almost sickening). The Cali kids would have done well here. We might have offered Law and Pruitt anyway with the Cali kids. Which means we could have had them with the Cali kids. I am sure they are going to make a contribution and so will the Cali kids wherever they are. No need to belittle those kids to try to make ours look better. We need a good 2013 class for the BE period. I wonder how many of our current recruits make in into school. All I hope but that has not been the case in the past.

I would have loved to have all of the California recruits, but will reserve judgment until the season starts to determine who is eligible and who is not. A 4-star recruit is of no use if he does not enroll due to academics. Give me Zach Line over Ryan Clark, Davon Moreland etc. any day of the week! That said, we do need to step it up now for next year's class.

I am not saying we have the best recruiting class ever, but you don't know what you are talking about with the California class. Most of those kids would have never made into school here anyway, similar to Moreland. Keep your eyes open over the next 4 years on how many of those kids turn out to be players.

Rivals used to do a decent job, but things have changed over the last couple of years, and it is the reason for the increase in number of stars.

You guys need to wake up a little bit with how those recruiting services work. And yes, I pay for both sites. But the stars are given out now to encourage recruiting coordinators to talk to them. Klemm feeds them info on a player SMU is recruiting, which gives rivals value. So rivals in return pumps Klemm up by giving the player 3 stars. Klemm gives mucho info to both Rivals and Scout, and is lauded as being a "great recruiter" by both services. Klemm leaves, and both sites rip SMU for letting him go, because now they have no source of info.

There are other political agendas in play here, and you guys are being conned by a TT grad and a UT grad into thinking really bad things about our football program that just aren't true. And you are ripping into someone who is putting together a recruiting roundup that will put theirs to shame (once again), and who has closer ties and more information about the SMU coaching staff, players, and program than those other services could ever hope to have.

You seriously need to go back and look at the "lightly recruited" or two star players that this coaching staff signed over the last 3 years and figure out that they are much better talent evaluators than someone at rivals who sits in a room looking at 3 30 second clips and giving a star rating.

Do you think this is a stellar class and will win BIG EAST Championships and a BCS Bowl berth? We are going into the BE with this class so we should take CUSA no problem next year right?
