Possibly the most racist comment I've read on pf.com, so congrats dude. Reverse racism is the same as someone saying they don't want a black coach or qb because they aren't smart enough. Stupid comment bro.
Using dude and bro in that short a rant is more offensive. Also, 'middle aged white guys' is more a universal message board demographic. It's all metrics these days

Methinks the implication that a bunch of people not involved in any manner with collegiate bball are talking out of their asses. I also think his demographic assessment of this site's users is accurate.

Ha - I won't comment then. Thanks for the twitter info. Ok have to comment, I think the circumstances drove this, but SO may have stumbled into a good hire once again. The outcome can't be any worse than what we ended up with the past decade, could it? Say this new item... probably posted on another thread, but David Steele of sporting news likes the hire, and makes some good points... http://aol.sportingnews.com/ncaa-basketball/story/2012-04-18/larry-brown-the-best-coach-alive-could-transform-any-team-even-smu
Thanks for the article. BB junkie describes him well and demonstrates why Kansas and Kentucky both claim a connection to LB, SMU to-be-named coach. If in 2 or 3 years he leaves with SMU in a better place, what is the problem? Frankly, he may consider SMU his greatest challenge and, possibly when he does retire, he greatest gift and success. Apparently lots of professional and college BB icons love him and, so will we and our fans and recruits.

Bottom line. This is huge. Huge, huge. And nobody has the right to complain even one iota.
Good times.

Possibly the most racist comment I've read on pf.com.
I have read much worst. In fact that was more of an observation compared to some stuff I have read on here.

I am DEEPLY OFFENDED by this statement. I know I am white, I know I don't know jack about the industry, BUT I'm fighting like hell to avoid being middle aged...and it hurts!

Ok, maybe I was overly sensitive. Maybe the "middle-aged" part got to me, as I'm only 33 and didn't think of myself that way quite yet. And I'm tan, not white... We may not know "jack" about the industry, but isn't that the exact demographic of the guys writing the check?? And "dude" and "bro" are terms of endearment here at the beach.

"Middle aged" would be a generous characterization for many of the basketball oracles chiming in around here.

Bottom line - we are all SMU fans and want the best for our program. We may have differing opinions, but we all want to reach the same goal. We've lost a lot of 25-45 year old fans because we've been such a horrible sports program for so long.

I like reading differing opinions, and I really like your avatar...so post often.
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

hey hoops- white and damn proud of it. Middle aged- well, I wish. Middle aged was a long time ago. as the old expression goes- I'm not as good as I once was but I'm as good once as I ever was. BTW- you could have left racial color out of your comments. What color are you?? If not white I guess we could say you are being reverse= bigoted.

Pat Forde on the SMU situation with Brown. http://sports.yahoo.com/news/ncaab--smu ... -hire.htmlThe Mustangs are striving to hire a man roughly the age of Stonehenge, who last recruited high-schoolers in the 1980s and left the only two college programs he has headed saddled with major NCAA sanctions. That's right. SMU, the historic leader in NCAA scandal scar tissue, is borderline desperate to hire a fossil with one vacated Final Four (UCLA) and one postseason ban (Kansas) on his collegiate coaching resume. Brown never cared about the rules then; do you really expect him to pore over the rules manual and learn them all now? Yet this is the guy they want to throw considerable money at to coach a sport nobody at the school cares about – unless I'm misinterpreting that average home attendance of 2,013 this past season. Anybody know the number for a straitjacket dealer in Dallas? t to work.

I'm pasty white, but don't believe in being PC. I'm in an urban industry, and half the fun is crushing each other for our differences. Being real is the bond that ties, not PC lies

I'm so white, I'm watching "311" on HDNet and feeling urban.
