Pittman is a very, very good player. He allows linebackers to shine.

The moment McJunk went out of the A&M game, their nosetackle dominated the game and Line stopped getting yards. He is a very good center, and we are lucky to have him back this year.

Most underrated last season - Crawford. I don't think folks realize how good he was last season.

McJunkin's loss was huge at A&M. I don't know about Pope dropping back but he's explosive and has a nose for the ball. Would love to see him play more

Agree. The 3 foot hat alone should help with pass coverage.

You guys couldn't be more wrong about cam rodgers. He has stepped in for Fleps seamlessly and we didn't even notice. Expecting big things from him this year.

So you think not having an INT, Forced Fumble, Fumble Recovery or Tackle for Loss all season long last year is acceptable for a starting linebacker?

Rodgers played better as the season went on, but there was a significant drop off in the first half of the season between him and Fleps.

I think whether or not he still has a starting job the first week of the season will say a lot about our young middle linebackers (Rambo, Pope, Bordano).

Be careful what you wish for... DJ makes the highlight catches, but frequently drops the ones that hit him in the chest. Now if you have a QB that will hit him in the chest every time...

Just sayin'....

Cameron Rogers isn't the flashiest player out there, but he's always in the right place and consistently makes plays. In our defense, the inside LBs rarely drop in to coverage, but he did have a pair of pass break-ups (Taylor Reed had three, and Pope and Joyner had one each), he's very good against the run, and is a good special teams guy, too. He's hugely underrated.

Where did Spike Davis come from? I know nothing about this guy as far as a search in the Rivals database. Is he a senior/junior/etc?

I also think Torlan Pittman will have a huge year. If other teams start to focus on Margus with their double teams, that will leave "Pitt" (not the team) with a lot of inside plays. I watched the replay (the entire thing) of the BBVA Compass Bowl on the internet the other day and "Pitt" was being double teamed ALL the time and he still managed to get through to pressure the QB.

Yeah, but Gilbert is good enough to figure this out and has the accuracy to make sure all of the balls to DJ3 aren't right in his chest.

Aaron "Spike" Davis transferred to SMU from Fresno State ... as a linebacker, but has lived in the weight room and pumped himself up to around 285 or so. He's a maniac on special teams and a nice backup for Pittman at NT.

Pittman and Spike have the misfortune of playing a position that gets no gratitude for a thankless job. The more plays the DEs and LBs make, the better the anchor is playing in the middle.

Spike did a good job last year. Definition of underrated. Should be a good guy to have this year.

Kenneth Acker doesn't get nearly the credit he deserves. Toward the end of last season, he became a pretty tough cornerback.

I think not having the stats but still keeping a starting job all season, and putting up with clowns like you dogging him for stats, make him underrated. Yes.
