We don't need a $10M coach, just a coach that gives a damn.

I wish, they would cost as much I'm sure

SMU can get anyone in that passes clearinghouse as Stallion has stated but we just don't have the curriculum to help keep them eligible.Insane_Pony_Posse wrote:redpony i heard Boise State lets absolutely anyone inredpony wrote:IPP- I suspect that might be the issue with a lot of the coaches at the smaller schools like ULM and La Tech.

I think I tend to agree with that as well. Didn't we have a 4-star recruit last year, but couldn't retain him because he was unable to meet the scholastic criteria?SMU 86 wrote: SMU can get anyone in that passes clearinghouse as Stallion has stated but we just don't have the curriculum to help keep them eligible.

Only one I recall is the one that did not pass the NCAA clearinghouse so nobody could get him.

Re: Do you really think Nick
Saban has too much of an ego to coach anywhere other than a recruiting factory at the college level. Took the MSU job to get started after doing the same with Toledo. Since then he's only been at LSU and Bama or the NFL.

If Mich state continues to play like they are perhaps Mark D'Antonio might be looking for a job
Re: Do you really think Nick
Gene Chezick might not be back next year at auburn.....which is actually not that crazy. If auburn does not pay Cam Newton to play a season for them, he is a sub .500 coach

But to answer the question in the thread......look what Larry Brown is doing.......imagine Larry Brown 15 years ago and you would have Saban.

How long would it take ol Nick to have a winning season in the BIg Eastern Conference? Could ten million a year bring him and the best of class to the hilltop? Could ten million a year give us what we want or would it be another disappointment too? We deserve so much more than we are getting!
There's no dollar amount that will get Saban out of Tuscaloosa. He has the best job in college football and is primed to continue winning national championships until he feels like retiring.

Re: Do you really think Nick
I truly believe that learning under someone like nick saban who could be brought over here under a flat 500k with pay for performance contract in example 2 mil add on for perfect season to 0 for 6 game win season. Someone who has energy, youth, pro recruitment is what we need not an old ex nfl already succeeding big time program coach to come here for the fact they have an oversize ego wouldn't agree to the contract above and believe name is all you need to recruit.
Re: Do you really think Nick
Coach Saban is 60 years old - he's not leaving. However, we can get someone who's learned from him. He leads by example and teaches his coaches to care about every aspect of team leadership including adapting game plans to the ever changing game of football. He lives for the future, strives to learn new things everyday, and is enthusiastic (sometimes too enthusiastic). Do we have any of this?
