Second!
BRING BACK THE GLORY DAYS OF SMU FOOTBALL!!!
For some strange reason, one of the few universities that REFUSE to use their school colors: Harvard Crimson & Yale Blue.

Probably not...and regardless, blue pants would have been terrible.
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

Agreed! This uniform is the main reason I am ok with red jerseys! Many fans constantly complain about the red jerseys saying that blue is our traditional color, yet I think it can be argued that red is our traditional color. Personally I like both royal and red jerseys. As long as we wear white pants, white helmets, keep the stripes on the pants and on the helmets I am happy with blue or red jerseys. The Doak Walker uniforms would be a nice tribute to our glory days if we ever land a national stage.
Re: Uni Watch
we should also do the throwback leather helmets for the tcu game next year

I liked the design so much that I sent it to AD Hart. Very nice.

Good job Digetydog!
it's our heritage, tradition, & it's still a classic look much like the 80's unis & helmet.
What a great way to pay tribute to the teams of the 30's & 40's; considering they put us on the map. Moreover, this could be a special uni for one to two games annually or permanent.
Swap it out with the 80's one, they're both classics!

I've tweeted these mockups at Rick Hart before as well, I got a response after sending him the blue Pony Express throwback. He said "hmmm"
I think they get it though, they know our jerseys could have been better. It sounds like they were a bit of an afterthought with so many changes going on in the department.
For once, I'd love to see us show some sense and come together and develop something hand in hand with Nike that is modern and fresh/appealing to recruits, but also appropriately honors our style and traditions. We need to think of ways to utilize different jerseys and colors, and incorporate them in to a plan that sees us to things like throwbacks with TCU or blackouts on a Thursday night. We do not need Junes input on this, no more Hawaiin helmet stickers, no more stupid superstitions. The jerseys are for fans and for those watching on TV. The kids care less about the look and more about the shoes, equipment, etc...so having Nike takes care of that issue.
You can see it happening but it will take time. Our athletic department needs to run like a business with everyone focused on branding, marketing, performance, and pushing ourselves to the next level by holding everyone accountable. It will require making good decisions at every level, from simple things like how the uniforms look, to who our next football coach will be.

After seeing UTEP's uniforms, we have nothing to complain about. Those were absolutely awful.

Woah, easy you two.... just thought it be interesting combo, considering we have two colors rather than 1.
