Is this where I throw in my disclaimer that if they move to a 4-3, all of my nonsense is thrown to the wind?

Did you see Alabama's center, who can also plan other spots on the line?mavsrage311 wrote:First round center???? I give that a 0% chance.JasonB wrote:
Prediction: First round Center, 2/3/4 are G, WR, QB (wouldn't be surprised to see them try and grab Barkley in the second if he is there), get a late RB, LB, DL.

Typically only tackles are selected that high as far as OL goes. The PonyGrad wrote:Did you see Alabama's center, who can also plan other spots on the line?mavsrage311 wrote:First round center???? I give that a 0% chance.JasonB wrote:

Barrett Jones has shifted around Alabama's offensive line as the team has needed him. Now, he's their center -- the best player on an offensive line that paves the way for an elite running attack, and trying for his third national championship as a starter.
Jones began his college career as the Crimson Tide's right guard, and started all 14 games as Alabama won the national championship. He started there again as a sophomore, but moved to left tackle as a junior. The team won the national title again, and Jones earned recognition as the best offensive lineman in the country, winning the Outland Trophy, as well as a unanimous spot on the all-American team.

Unless he's a sure fire elite NFL left tackle he won't go in the top of round 1. He might have the ability to play tackle but that doesn't necessarily make him worth the 1st round money. Lots of very good NFL guards played OT at times in college. Jones is definitely an NFL guy but the financial realities of the salary cap, the limited number of elite LT's to protect a QB, and other key needs with that 1st round pick make a top half of the 1st round pick of an OL anywhere other than LT pretty rare. The PonyGrad wrote:He has that check mark.WordUpBU wrote:Typically only tackles are selected that high as far as OL goes. The PonyGrad wrote:Did you see Alabama's center, who can also plan other spots on the line?

I'm talking about the cowboys. They are not going to draft a center in round 1. Jerry probably had to have his arm twisted into drafting Tyron Smith, a franchise tackle, in round 1 a couple years ago. Centers can sneak in the end of round 1, but they generally start to get picked in round 2.The PonyGrad wrote:Did you see Alabama's center, who can also plan other spots on the line?mavsrage311 wrote:First round center????
