Guys-right now this is a pipdream. I live in Las Vegas.

Basically, UNLV is asking the casinos and the LVCVA (Convention Authority) to chip in over $160 million dollars. Unfortunately, the reality is Jim Murren and MGM hate the idea and are fighting it tooth and nail behind the scenes. MGM has the two main event centers, besides Thomas and Mack at UNLV, at the MGM Grand and Mandalay Bay.

While it would be great for Las Vegas if this project got approved; I doubt that it will happen. Odds are less than 15% right now.

I could see them putting something together with a huge student fee tacked on with naming rights and other concessions. If NTSU and a bunch of other invisible programs can string that together with very little alumni funding then they probably can too. It won't look like the plans but they could probably build a nice facility that could expand as Nevada population grows over the next few decades

stein000012, you are so right. With all of the events the MGM Grand and Mandalay Bay host, I can not see those two casino resorts supporting this project knowing they would lose on-property-traffic and the revenue it generates. Along with other problems that the Las Vegas groups proposing this project will have to deal with in order to build the venue. I just don't see this happening

In my opinion college athletics has begun to "jump the shark tank" and this is more evidence of that.

UNLV has to be one of the very top metropolitan areas with no Pro sport competition-they've got huge entertainment competition though. So you add student fees, State of Nevada contribution, alumni participation and naming rights right there. BTW did anyone notice that the Cities of College Station and Bryan and Brazos County are contributing something like 38 Million to the new A&M Stadium Project? Geez. Where's the Tea Party?
