Try selling your dream in Provo. Good luck.

I'll wait until they able to achieve a ranking somewhere in the high teens and ask them how it feels to know that no matter what happens the rest of the season, you won't be in a BCS game. MWC will bend over and fold on the TV Network/Revenue issue. (like they did with Boise St) No other conference (not even a conference in desperation like the Big East) is going to give them the sweetheart deal and give them the access they need. You forget the system has changed since they flirted with the Big 12, so unless something changes in the format, the MWC is the only opportunuity for them to have their cake (TV Deal) and eat it too (BCS Access). Pair that with the fact that the conference mates are within close proximity and doesn't seem like that hard of a sell to me.

As a PonyFan living in NYC, this schedule is disappointing because all of our opponents that are located within a reasonable drive are all home games.

Between UConn, Temple and Rutgers, it would have been nice to have at least one of those games be an away game for SMU so that folks up here that can't make it to home games can see the team play.

With all this talk about how the Big East brings East Coast recognition to SMU, it seems like that impact is diminished if we don't actually play any games up in this region...

For a BCS game, they need to be in the top 12. http://www.cbssports.com/collegefootbal ... in-playoff

Boise doesn't have its own television network nor a separate deal with ESPN.

Conference mates aren't THAT important to them. http://www.sltrib.com/sltrib/blogsbyusp ... e.html.csp

The fact all three are coming to Dallas jumped out as pretty strange to me as well.

So his implication may be correct... For the next 1-2 years the Big East has an edge over MWC however once the inevitable happens our best home for Football and Hoops will probably be out west. As it stands above, MWC would already be a stronger conference schedule Add BYU for all sports and Gonzaga for Hoops only and it is without question superior.
No way they go to the MWC. Byu left for money, media right flexibility, visibility, and better schedules. None of that has changed and they already can lock up the kind of bowls the MWC can.

Gonzaga won't leave to be a token basketball private school among a bunch of public all sports schools with less visibility (tv exposure) and leave a league of like minded schools they annually make the tourney from anyway. Other than RPI (which hasn't held them back yet) what is the lure?

I sure the MWC wants those two but that doesn't mean it makes sense on the other side.
