Showers would be a great QB here. If he transfers here, seems to me it should be a wide open QB race for next year.

I'm pretty sure he ends up at Baylor. JJ is too engrossed with Gilbert to let anybody else come in and start plus Tech has Brewer poised to take over.

Stallion wrote:Jameil Showers announced yesterday he was leaving A&M-he is leaving with best wishes and in good standing. He projected to be A&M starter before Manziel took over. If SMU really is thinking about running a more spread-like offense and wants to it before 2016 then they might want to consider. Speculation I read included Tech and Baylor where he could play NEXT year because he will be GRADUATE TRANSFER at end of year and still has 2 years to play. But I doubt he'd consider SMU because we have returning starter at QB. Baylor looks like best bet-he could start against us next year
Could he still be a graduate transfer and REDSHIRT next year? IOW, did he only use 2 years of eligibility in 2 years, or has he already redshirted...

2010 (FRESHMAN)
Won the backup quarterback job in fall camp … saw action in four games, mostly in relief of starter Ryan Tannehill but also in short yardage situations late in the season … completed 4-of-5 passes for 40 yards with a long completion of 23 yards … rushed for 33 yards on nine carries and posted his first career touchdown against Kansas State … completed season-high 4-of-4 passes for 40 yards against Idaho … rushed for 24 yards on five carries against Kansas.

2010
Redshirted … enrolled in January and went through spring drills with the Aggies.

DO GRAYSHIRTS ACTUALLY REDSHIRT?

Yea I hate getting the most talented players on our roster as transfers from other schools.

Hard to say that the most talented players on our roster have been transfers from other schools - at least BCS school anyways...........

I'm exaggerating but for the sake of argument, shawnbrey and Gilbert have certainly been focal points of our offense.
