Memphis has named redshirt freshman Paxton Lynch the starter. Lynch will become the 5th different starting quarterback for Memphis in the past 5 years.

Gutsy call by coach Fuentes. The Texas Tech transfer QB Jacob Karam played well last year.

Paxton was hurt most of his senior year and then blew up in the FL All-Star game and won MVP honors. UCF offered and he was Florida's backup. He's 6'5" and apparently the redshirt year helped. I thought Karam was going to be the guy.
Last year, he completed 176-of-274 passes for 1895 yards and 14 touchdowns and 3 picks. His 64.2 pass completion percentage set a new Memphis season record.
