If I'm coaching SMU, I'm telling my guys to go for the ball when JM scrambles. He keeps the ball out there with one hand - it screams for a strip (probably a better chance to strip the ball than tackling that guy) . . . turnovers could be the only thing that keeps us competitive in the game . . .

I think we did that last year...which is why Manziel's SMU highlights featured prominently in his Heisman highlight reel.ojaipony wrote:If I'm coaching SMU, I'm telling my guys to go for the ball when JM scrambles

Right, because we were the only team he did that to.SMUer wrote:I think we did that last year...which is why Manziel's SMU highlights featured prominently in his Heisman highlight reel.ojaipony wrote:If I'm coaching SMU, I'm telling my guys to go for the ball when JM scrambles
The highlight reels I saw just showed us once when we had him locked up and he squirted away and threw a TD. There were about 5 plays against Missouri and 2 against AL (Top 12 plays).

You're right; don't directly tackle him, just try to strip the football, with our down-field tackling, he won't have a field-day with us. How about this plan, spread the line laterally and don't let him run.

That's right. Yeah, don't actually try to tackle him. Brilliant plan.SMUer wrote:You're right; don't directly tackle him, just try to strip the football, with our down-field tackling, he won't have a field-day with us. How about this plan, spread the line laterally and don't let him run.
