Re: June loses a recruitAnd by the way, signing day is a long way off. Recruiting should not be over with this kid. We should still be on him.

Wouldn't be surprised to see some P5 teams jump in on him, he could flip again. They who would give up an essential liberty for temporary security, deserve neither liberty or security

He hasn't enrolled yet or signed so we still should be on him. #HammerDown
Re: June loses a recruit
If kids were picking schools based on the quality of the education offered we would out recruit Oklahoma State, TCU, Baylor, Texas Tech........
Re: June loses a recruitobviously the answer is that for most top recruits Education is pretty far down the list of things they are looking for-but quite frankly for a good 60% of these kids the less rigorous schools are probably a step up from a school they could get into on their own academic merit.

When momentum starts rolling downhill in recruiting-WATCH OUT.
Re: June loses a recruitnot sure why this would surprise anyone. a lot could happen as the rest of this season plays out and we find out whether this coaching staff will even be back next year. And I don't get the UCF bashing. An up and coming school and with it being one of the largest in the country enrollment wise, there are plenty of connections to be made if that's what any recruit cares about. Somehow, I don't think that is high on a high caliber athlete's list
Re: June loses a recruitUCF looks and feels like a P5 school - full stadium, rowdy fans, etc. They've been featured on ESPN inside access a lot too.
I think along with Cincy and BYU, they are the next school to get a call up to the big leagues.
Re: June loses a recruit
I just thought you were better than the tired 7-11 cliche.
Re: June loses a recruit
Those schools don't have anywhere to go whether they look P5 or not. There's simply not enough value in adding them. They who would give up an essential liberty for temporary security, deserve neither liberty or security

Re: June loses a recruitGood pickup for UCF - I really hate to lose him.
That being said, most of his SEC offers were no longer committable (specifically, Bama http://bleacherreport.com/articles/16498...-it-drafts; Kentucky http://www.aseaofblue.com/2013/4/5/41759...offer-mean and MSU) Obviously, UCF is closer to home and is having the best season in their history, all motivating factors. We also have 2 QB commits already from Texas - Harris was offered by Hal Mumme after those 2 commits, which was also a strange situation. Bottom line - Both schools will be fine. We take Darrell Colbert, UCF gets Harris.
Re: June loses a recruitLet's be honest. SMU and UCF look like programs on entirely different trajectories. Hard to fault him. Also, someone was telling me that there was a connection between this kid's dad and Mumme...maybe there is a bit of uncertainty in next year's staff and the Harris' were tipped off? Heresay, but there it is anyway...
Re: June loses a recruit
True, at this point we're a team with an unmotivated lame duck HC and patchwork o-line, UCF is basically the opposite. UCF is a better pick for his football future. They who would give up an essential liberty for temporary security, deserve neither liberty or security

Re: June loses a recruitI’m not completely surprised with this. I was not 100% convinced that he was 100% convinced. It may have something to do with location to his home … and yes UCF (except two seasons ago), has been a program on the rise for the last few years. I think the potential uncertainty of our coaching situation next season may be the bigger reason. If a change does occur, and it happens before the Feb deadline … and if the new regime is interested in him and reaches back out … he can be flipped again.
SMU’s record of getting guys into the NFL, or at least the chance of getting into a camp speaks for itself the last 5 years. Pardon and BL aside, this has not happened yet for a QB … but GG will change that (God willing his injury is not too serious). If this kid has/had the goods he would shine in the SMU scheme (not knowing what the future holds), and then it comes down to his measurable and smarts. As was already alluded to, most top recruits all think they will make it to the next level. So, education to them is … “Hey I’m in collegeâ€, not “what college am I attendingâ€, from an academics point of view in most cases.
