Request for Poll: Who should be our Next Head Coach?Moderators: PonyPride, SmooPower Re: Realistically - who is our next head coach?Other than not allowing felons in school, the restrictions are off.
Re: Realistically - who is our next head coach?tough choices. Could we find a good OC from a high standards school (duke, stanford, vandy et al) that would make a good HC and still understand the admissions issues- at least those that still exist.
Re: Realistically - who is our next head coach?we need look no further than UTSA
No sexy, i know. But the guy is getting it done with a lot less to work with.
Re: Realistically - who is our next head coach?
Coker is 65, does he have enough left in the tank to push this program to the next level? They who would give up an essential liberty for temporary security, deserve neither liberty or security

Re: Realistically - who is our next head coach?
In theory, but Brown had to go fight the big fight to get Frazier in, which tells me that not all of the admissions problems have gone away. Cam Cameron?
Re: Realistically - who is our next head coach?Let's open this discussion up this time next year, he's not going anywhere, I'm finally coming to terms with it, but he's not leaving.
No reason for him to retire and not collect a 2 million check. No one else wants him, and we wont fire him and be on the hook for that buyout. Too many influential CofC guys respect him too much to fire him as well. I believe he's our coach next year sadly. #GodFather #Tempo
Re: Realistically - who is our next head coach?
Uh... Two words ... Larry Brown
Re: Realistically - who is our next head coach?
If that happens (and it is a possibility), it would be a disaster.
Re: Realistically - who is our next head coach?
Coker isn't really comparable to Larry Brown. Brown is a HOFer and champion at both the college and pro level, Coker is the guy that killed "The U". They who would give up an essential liberty for temporary security, deserve neither liberty or security

Re: Realistically - who is our next head coach?
I hope/had hoped for a change. No change then I'm outa here. After 60+ yrs of supporting the mustangs and continually hoping for that ever elusive move to the top again I have finally decided that I no longer need this kind of aggravation. If this admin doesn't give a crap about being top level/first class then this great university will slowly pass into the sunset and no longer exist.
Re: Realistically - who is our next head coach?
Although I'm only a '12 graduate, I certainly share the same frustration. I volunteered in the athletic department as a student, and spent every year at SMU trying to get my peers excited about SMU football and basketball. I kind of feel as if I drank too much of the Kool-aid now, and set my expectations too high. We're a bootstrapped department with a few powerful alums that ultimately get to call the shots whether they positively or negatively affect this program. I think Rick Hart is a good man, but I haven't seen anything yet to believe that he is committed or fully capable of delivering a product that is top 25 caliber. I'm talking about things like a great marketing campaign, a grade A fan and gameday experience (New Moody is a big test), top notch jerseys and equipment but most importantly a relentless message that pushes our teams and especially coaches to get better, expect better and work harder. I certainly don't have an understanding of the entire situation, and do believe Rick is handcuffed in a lot of ways by our budget and CofC types, but in someways I miss Orsini's bull in a china shop mentality that absolutely forced positive change and improvement in our department, but ultimately got him fired. #GodFather #Tempo
Re: Realistically - who is our next head coach?Joe Moglia.
Re: Realistically - who is our next head coach?Ed O would be a terrible hire. He wouldn't come here anyway. He is the worst coach in SEC history
