Fatterson will never come to SMU...he complains about TCU's fair weather fans enough already...don't think he wants to play in a lesser conference/smaller house. He wouldn't fit and we wouldn't feed him enough...he likes it where he is.

Yes. Maybe get some $$$ from EA as a sponsor of sorts.

Call up Jim Tressel I mean YEAH I know your history and how you got screwed HARDER than any school in history for stuff that he was KIND of doing at Ohio State. But SMU DON'T play that game. The guy's a good football coach. You want to win the Sweater vest could build you into a no crap national power. Would the lousy arse NCAA put a bigger microscope on SMU because of who they are? Anymore they have so little credibility that I really doubt it.
Even as a Michigan guy I don't think he was full on cheating. I mean look at what he left behind. I mean I've seen Urban Meyer get out coached by Lloyd Carr. NEVER seen him out fox Tressel I think he beat him once, I think but it wasn't because of Lloyd just plain old out thinking the man, he had a better team. He lost to him with a better team also.(a few times IMO) Lloyd had an overwhelmingly winning record vs Paterno... and heck EVERYBODY else.
Lickin' my wounds, yes... One more play... Boy I love this game!

Other names to consider
Ken Niumatalolo from Navy (winning record vs Notre Dame)
Frank Solich (unfairly canned at Nebraska after a 9-3 season and turned around the Ohio Bobcats)
A coach from Miami of Ohio, not sure who but that usually works out pretty good for whoever made that move like in the 60's and 70's.
I KNOW you guys DO NOT want to play option football. But you would if say Tom Osborn for whatever reason decided to coach the SMU Mustangs.
Also Bobby Wilder, Old Dominion... Look at that last one look at it REAL good. He went from no team 4 years ago to a squad that would have won the 1aa title this year if they would have stayed 1aa. or whatever the heck it's called now. ODU outdraws SMU for it's home games and honestly they AREN't as good of a team YET.... They win sure... But Bobby Wilder built a squad and a REAL fanbase here in Hampton Roads. Some Virginia Tech and UVA people are even worried about li'l old Old D U...You could hire THAT guy.

If we lose to UCF and JJ is not 'retired' within 48 hours I will start to worry. If he is around a week after UCF, I will be depressed.

Many names have been discussed. I want to know what you think. Who should be our next Head Coach?

If he's leaving there should be rumblings this week.

Is it fair that I ask WHAT are you guys HONEST and actual expectations of your football team? I mean like forever. I expect my team to contend for the Big Ten Title, hopefully go to the Rose Bowl and win... IN GREAT season. In a bad season be bowl eligible and beat freaking somebody. Hey, you guys are a small school. I KNOW your history but WHAT do you guys demand? From My head coach I demand that he be a Michigan man. I demand that he fields a team at LEAST capable of beating Michigan State and Ohio State. Since Notre Dame don't want to play us any more they are off the list.... I KNOW tha Michigan is No longer a national power.. But you guys are in all kindness kind of a mid major. plucky and fun to cheer for but pretty much a MAC school. THIS IS NOT MEANT as an insult to you, your team or your coach... I mean you guys are totally screwed in your current business model if you want to play the way that I KNOW you want to play and are capable of playing.... IMO y'all need to return to the Cotton Bowl.... But like I say.... My situation is NOT yours. You guys wanna whip TCU real bad, but you ALSO want to beat Mack Brown and you actually expect to (do you know how CRAZY that sounds to everybody else)? That's what I like about SMU Football. AND that's why I cheer for you guys. That and there was some fella named somethin or other Walker and he was the star tailback for the last Detroit Lions championship teams. (I THINK I convinced the trespassers to put footba lines on the Tiger Stadium Site for Thanksgiving.) Doak Walker fans, go there before it becomes a Walmart we won't win forever.

I expect us to be able to beat Michigan, since they are also kind of a mid major along with the rest of the mid west jokers that get revealed during bowl season EVERY year.
But since you asked, I expect us to be what TCU was before they joined big 12 - highly competitive with everyone and occasionally a giant killer.

plus, I can dominate any D in the country with about 8 offensive plays. I don't worry about D, so that would t be much of a change from the current regime.

June never recruits, and he was apparently hot on the trail for goulbourne a week ago, which led to his commitment. Sounds like he's not stepping down

Not that we have an opening at the moment, but...
Young, ambitious coordinator that is known for being an aggressive recruiter.
He needs to bring an exciting brand of football and be willing to get out into the SMU and Dallas community to sell SMU to both recruits and fans/potential fans.
The type of guy I'm thinking about will be looking to springboard his career... he won't be looking at SMU as a destination job. The only coaches we're going to get that consider us a destination job right now are older coaches looking for a paycheck before retirement. It sounds weird, but mid-major programs become big time programs by rolling the dice on ambitious young coaches until they get to the point where coaches consider the program a destination job.

My expectation for SMU football is to be bowl eligible every season, win a conference championship once every four or five seasons, and be a BCS buster once a decade.
