Re: Great Dallas Steakhouses?my favorite "low-hair" steakhouse of all time was the Preston Center Charco Broiler-its been out of business for about 20 years now-but they'd have great inexpensive steaks and salad bar for what today would probably be about 10 bucks in a fast food environment. You could get in and out of there in 30 minutes. I lived at that place during SMU days

Re: Great Dallas Steakhouses?Del frisco grill in uptown is less big hair and good steaks..less pretentious at most but still possible to run up a couple hundred dollar tab for dinner for two (as my daughter and often do..she's got good taste)
Re: Great Dallas Steakhouses? The Butcher Shop in the Westend was pretty good the last time I ate there, but everything tastes a little bit better when you are eating on the company dime.
Re: Great Dallas Steakhouses?
Wierd that I don't even remember that place. Sounds a little like Dunston's.
Re: Great Dallas Steakhouses?Bob's is still my favorite (original on Lemmon). But I also like Pappa's and Nick & Sam's.

Re: Great Dallas Steakhouses?I know it's blaspheme, but I always thought Bob's and Al's are overrated. They're not bad, but not worth the money to me.

Re: Great Dallas Steakhouses?Haha. That's my point. No steakhouse is worth it. No nice restaurant is worth it. I can prepare a fantastic meal at home for friends and family for a quarter of what it costs to eat out. USDA Prime aged beef. Truffled risotto. A well aged Cab or three. Raspberry creme brulee. A little Armagnac as a digestif with a cigar. I'll just pocket the three extra bills and be just as fat and happy.
Re: Great Dallas Steakhouses?Bob's is generally understood to be gross, but they advertise to tourists to keep the place packed.
Nick and Sam's is the best steakhouse in Dallas.
Re: Great Dallas Steakhouses?gross? By who? No one I know has ever reached that conclusion. At least not about the one on Lemmon. Derail the Frogs!
Re: Great Dallas Steakhouses?only issue i have with Nick and Sams is when they bring all that 400 a lb kobe steak to the table and try to hard sell you - its embarrassing for everyone and not needed. Otherwise really like the place.
Re: Great Dallas Steakhouses?
I guess I shouldn't say gross... it's just a Dunston's level steak at a much higher price. It's like Campisi's. I'm sure it was the best around when Dallas was a much smaller town, but nowadays why would anyone eat there?
Re: Great Dallas Steakhouses?I've never found a steak any better than Houston's to be worth it. A 5% increase in quality for a 200% increase in price is silly

Re: Great Dallas Steakhouses?
You also order your steaks cooked too long. Your opinion is null and void.
