F Jones. He's just lazy. He has tried to convince anyone damn loser that will listen that you don't need to recruit to be successful, that 4 and 5 star players don't make a difference, that even if we tried we can't compete against the big programs, that why waste time on players that we can never get. Listen to the latest FB recruit that we got; we didn't even recruit him because he said Jones didn't think we could ever get him. Try a damn to recruit and see what happens. He wants to be on vacation for most of the year, and work one day a year during football season to earn a cool $2mm. Must be nice, and SMU is stuck with the consequences. time to move on. It's been 2-3 years. He's just collecting his pension check and laughing at our faces while he does it.

If you want to win, that"s the approach you want your competition to take.

Translation:

Look. I'm in my 60's. It is obvious that I'm not going to be here this time next year. I'm going to bide my time. Cash these huge checks. Stand on the sidelines in my black moo moo and watch my antiquated offense full of marginal D1A talent get exposed on my way to a 3 win season and a first class ticket to Honolulu. Peace.
Back off Warchild seriously.

I think he is going to try and get 6 wins so he can get another year. It may erode the fan base in the process. SMT, 3 wins probably won't be the most nest year as he will coach to keep his job.

it baffles me how ponyboy continues to support June Jones when he just continues to show how much he doesn't give a f***. when will you join the rest of us rational fans and call for the axe? what is your problem? We all acknowledge that he's done a fine job bringing us back from the dead, but he was supposed to get canned 2 years ago. ever since then it's been a downhill trend. now his mere presence is killing SMU football and digging us into a hole that will be hard for us to get out of.

ponyboy wrote:@SMU2007, we've had the following conference finishes in the last five seasons:

2009: 3rd of 12 teams
2010: 5th of 12 teams
2011: 4th of 12 teams
2012: 3rd of 12 teams
2013: 6th of 10 teams

The 2013 season in the new AAC, while technically BCS, was somewhere between mid major and P5.

That's not sh*tty lower tier in our conference. That's a team generally in the upper tier of the conference.

Good enough for me? NO. But let's be a little more realistic. June doesn't murder nuns.

Is that you June?
How many of those wins were against teams with winning records?
