They can have the third best recruiting class in the country but if they are always behind Alabama, LSU and others in the SEC they will eventually follow Arkansas lead. Let em have their day..albeit middle of the pack in the SEC. Those guys may be good transfer prospects in a coupl of years.

Now that you mention that, to ask our 'Stang lawyers in this board: Is there any legal ramification about putting a new recruit in a billboard? Is it considered some sort of pay-to-play in that you tell a kid that if he commits, you will put up a billboard all over town for him for example?

Pac10 has the most NFL pro bowlers. Texas has supplied more college talent than any other state, followed by California.

SMU is Dallas' Team. Did you see all the celebs that came to our hoops game yesterday?
:D

On a weekly basis SMU is the only team in Dallas. Sure Tech, a&m, Baylor and Texas can play here once a year but SMU is Dallas! If you want to see Top ranked college basketball we are it. If you want to go to a good tailgate we are it.

While your specific comments are probably true, here are some statistics to chew on:

"The Southeastern Conference (SEC) flexes its big muscles once again, leading the way with 329 players (16.9 percent). That percentage will likely continue to grow as the 2013 draft just had a conference record 63 players taken from the SEC."

That's all true but they don't have much in the way of championships to show for it. Bevo will be better off in the long run because they don't have to deal with the bloodbath that is the SEC West.

 yes, two years in and they dont have a football championship yet.

but they have gotten a Heisman winner (sorry Johnny doesn't win that if he is in the Big 12), they are 20-6 with two major bowl wins w/Cotton (over Big 12 conference champ) and Peach (over ACC Coastal div champ), were able to force Sherman out (he didn't want the SEC, and would not have been fired had they stayed Big12) and hire Sumlin who just got them a top 5 recruiting class, and oh by the way last year their game against f-ing Rice had higher TV ratings than the Texas/OU game.

also lol at people saying SMU somehow has a greater claim on Dallas when two years ago A&M fans outnumbered SMU fans in Ford. Never mind had SMU not price gouged at $90 a pop for tickets there would have been even more of them.

Well current recruits were in diapers the last time A&M won ANY conference title, and that one was only due to an upset in the title game- it wasn't based on being the best all season long.

but they have gotten a Heisman winner (sorry Johnny doesn't win that if he is in the Big 12),

RG3 disagrees, so does the fact Colin Klein was even a serious candidate prior to being upended in Waco.
they are 20-6 with two major bowl wins w/Cotton (over Big 12 conference champ)

Runner up
and Peach (over ACC Coastal div champ),

Who was probably their 3rd or 4th best team and they don't win it if Duke doesn't choke... it DUKE people. The team that narrowly avoided disaster against Wake and Troy!
were able to force Sherman out (he didn't want the SEC, and would not have been fired had they stayed Big12) and hire Sumlin

So the ability to fire somone is bragging rights?? Really?
who just got them a top 5 recruiting class,

The first worthwhile point
and oh by the way last year their game against f-ing Rice had higher TV ratings than the Texas/OU game.
False. UT/OU outdrew it and did so in a MUCH more competitive time slot.

Which one is going to have an easier time with ratings?

The game competing against Mizzou/UGA, MSU/Indiana, then-unbeaten-Tech/ISU, UH/Memphis...
or the one competing against the labor day weekend cupcake group of:
Ohio State-Buffalo
Purdue-Cincy
WVU-William and Mary

Obviously A&M has more of a presence here than SMU, however A&M and the other SEC schools don't have more than the Big 12 schools in DFW though.

Yeah, there's no doubt the SEC is the strongest football conference. It just pisses me off to see those southeasterners make a bold and stupid claim that DFW is SEC territory.
