Rule 1 (JT's guide to being an SMU fan): NO EXPECTATIONS!!!jtstang wrote:Stars or not, and other offers notwithstanding, I dare say that Jones, et al., have come in and done a fine job of putting a class together at the last minute. All of my moaning about recruiting escaping us may have been premature. Just think what this guy could do with a full recruiting calendar at his disposal. I sant to see these guys make good on Saturday, but soon.

What's amazing is how many of these guys never saw the field or even made it to graduation. I know kids come and go, but it seems like we tend to loose a lot of kids for one stupid reason or another. A couple never even made it to campus.

Expony, I would have highlighted Givens before Chase. He showed more in his time at SMU than Chase ever has in my opinion. I would agree with the rest of your highlights.
Also, of the '06 and '07 recruits, McCann has shown he will be a player in my opinion. I am excited to have him. The rest of the others I have only heard good things about. Bell and Bailey got some PT but I did not see anywhere near enough to pass any judgement at all thus far. They are all yet to be determined, like you said.

chase has a lot of potential, and that is the only reason I highlighted him... this COULD be a break out year for him, but with the change in offenses it's doubtful... givens has been decent but not consistent enough IMO. McCann i noted "yet to see full potential" along with chase... decent but not what i have expected from them.... as for bell and bailey, it is way too early to judge, that's why i said yet to see.MustangIcon wrote:Expony, I would have highlighted Givens before Chase. Uh, whether it was intentional or not, it was probably a good thing not to highlight Givens. Has this been discussed or not on the Football board? I haven't paid that close attention. Givens is gone and ain't coming back.

Yes. Someone pointed out that he had transferred to UTEP.

I know Givens is gone but I wasn't using the highlights to show who might be good next year, but to try to point out which of the 3 star recruits under Bennett could be thought of as impact guys and I had Givens ahead of Chase. If you were grading hard, neither would be on the list based on what they have done at SMU thus far.
