Very Impressed

Post by Txangler »

New here obvious first post. I went school at the University of Arizona live in Austin hold Texas season football tickets but grew up in University Park in the 80's a huge SMU fan now in Austin for 5 years. Tonight I had the pleasure to be invited by a good friend and SMU alum to meet and hear Phil Bennett,Jim Tubbs and Jim Copeland speak to the Austin area Mustang Club. After hearing Bennett, Tubbs and Copeland yalls future is very bright. CUSA gives SMU athletics a great future and I see the olympic sports having immediate success and the football and basketball teams having a great future there. On that Great Luck Pony fans I hope to be at the SMU/atm game and maybe another SMU home game!!

WElcome back to your home town team. I for one an very ready to see the Mustangs win games and I think you are too.

Come by the Boulevard before a game and look for a 4 door Blue Dodge Truck in between the Meadows building and the Perkins Nat.

GO MUSTANGS

Copeland been saying the future is bright for 10 years- it's time for him to step down and retire and let someone younger with more ambition and fire run the program

I was also at the Austin event (good food and beautiful setting on Lake Travis) and was surprised to hear Bennett say that the starting QB would be Eckert or Romo. He said that in spite of having a nice Spring Game that Phillips still had trouble throwing the ball. He felt it was unlikely that Phillips would challenge the other two. I hope he fully recovers from that rotator cuff injury for 2006. He's one heck of an athlete that I would love to see on the field. Also, nice to know that the CUSA Bball Championship game will be on CBS. Two Austin area Volleyball signees were there, both gorgeous, didn't get their names though. Go Mustangs!

I would assume it's these two:

Westlake won the 5A state championship in 2002 with Kons being named as team MVP. In 2003, her team advanced to the 5A District 25 Regional Semifinals and she earned Academic All-District honors.

Natalie Peters, is also from Austin. She is a 6-0 middle blocker at Lake Travis High School and for the club Austin Juniors.

I agree 94. I haven't been to an Austin SMU happy hour in a while but it was the same thing at the ones I did attend. I know there are more of us here but not sure if everyone is on the email list or not.

I thought it was settled that people under 35 are not allowed to be SMU fans.
At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

I would say around 30-40 but my friend who was also there thinks it was 50 or more. I was too busy hanging out with Coach Tubbs to really notice - I really do like that guy. He did joke and say that now that he is a head coach he can't stand to read message boards anymore.
