Here's how you know it was a bogus call
All the facts are the same, but instead of Yanick, the UCLA player catches it in that exact spot and proceeds to dunk it. Do you think it would have been waived off? Absolutely no way. The reason is because the ball was so wide right and so low at that point that it would have required a "basketball move" to catch it and change its trajectory into the basket. It was most definitively NOT in the cylinder, not even close. And this argument that a few talking heads have made about you having to let the ball hit or clear the rim. Really? Did the alley oop get outlawed last night and we all missed it?

Could not agree with you more and that has been my argument through the two bottles of wine and my roolodex this evening!

Also, if they don't make the call, nobody is arguing that the shot might have gone in.

I made this exact statement in one of my many rants last night.

Excellent way of looking at it. What was Yanick supposed to do?

Apparently let the ball go w/ under 15 seconds left while getting pushed in the back by Looney jockeying for position to tie the game off the glass.

This one is going to burn for a long, long time.
Maybe forever for the three awesome seniors who gave us everything they had in their tanks.

Texas bites. Baylor sucks. As it was in the beginning, is now, and evermore shall be. Amen.

I was thinking something similar. Except I was thinking if YM had just caught it rather than tipping it away. I don't think it gets called there either

I feel worse today and have watch the replay over and over, finding as many different pictures/angles as I can....this ball was past the basket and was not going to hit the rim. Horrible call. Feel bad for Yanick, but we shouldn't have been in this position anyway.
