Re: colin lagasse

there is 40 speed which is straightaway and then football position specific speed which includes quickness out of the breaks or for a db hip and backpedal quickness. Straight on spped is nice but more important for a slot is the quickness part and welker and beasley arent close to 4.4 much less 4.3 ...

Re: Stephen Kaiser Transferring?

Pretty shocking SMU has signed so few players in Texas with south pacific family backgrounds like around the mid-cities area and no qbs who have had consistent results from Texas....except for Bo after he left. Is the media hype about qb gurus, run and shoot and recruiting just that although winning ...

Re: Stephen Kaiser Transferring?

Wasn't he the one who June said would be a number 1 draft choice based on his skills at the time on his signing day?

Re: Does Switching Athletics Conferences Lead to Academic Ga

One need no further than the neighbors to the west, TCU. Success breeds new and larger fan base along with older alumni returning to the fold. Larger donations, all of a sudden tickets are not being given away anymore but an actual waiting list. Higher standards for it's athletes because the coaches ...

Re: PonyFans.com VIDEO: Interview with GARRETT GILBERT

Notice the eyes. You can still see the hurt but also the passion and competitive nature. Hopefully he will just relax and enjoy the game and let his physical tools and mind take over. In other words, not try to do much. Seems like a nice young man that any university would be proud to have as a ...

Re: 2013 Schedule

ed4life is right but there are different ways of gauging success and looking good in the media and with fans and alumni. Must take a realistic view in analyzing compettive nature of BE and arrange schedule so that 6 wins and a bowl bid are likely while as we get stronger hitting the road to play the ...

Re: Phil Steele Mag

Steele's is just a terrible magazine. Just full of worthless stats. That is why it comes out so early before the other more informative magazines....so it can take advantage of the stupid fans who are so hungry for "any" information and impatient for the upcomming season. Me...I like Texas Football ...

Re: Rumors Swirling

Coaches and others who say"they are interested in giving a kid a second chance" are so off the mark and contribute more to the problems in academics and athletics today. Raise the bar and there will be kids who want to succeed and will meet the standards. The opportunity is there. Lower the ...

Re: The Disaster Scenario

That is why a university makes itself as attractive as possible and the alumni and fans play a big part. Passionate fan base with good attendance, stability in the coaching ranks.....what do you bring to the table? The OBAMA plan of sharing the wealth doesn't work at the collegiate level.

Re: Orsini Terminated

So sad......so few people care that maybe it should be more like the ivy-league schools and other schools in the same boat like Rice and Tulane. All in great cities with huge tv markets but the alumni and students for the most part don't care about sports ...maybe they just have it in perspective ...

Re: U. of Texas championship drought

Great article but with a state with a growing population and with the NCAA limit on scholarships UT can't get em all. There are hundreds not dozens of great football players in Texas and MAc Browns decisions to go with those that are physically impressive with size or speed compared to football ...

Re: With Orsini gone will SMU get athletic friendly courses?

What an insult to "institutions of higher learning". Rather than dumbing down how about this......recruit student/athletes? Ones who can handle the college work and realize the value of certain, not all, college degrees.

there is no reason for SMU to take a backseat to anyone whether it be athletics, academics unless apathy takes over which has been an ongoing problem in some corners for several decades. If the smu faithful and faithless would just realize how wonderful and powerful the university would become if ...
